TrackYourSats — Privacy Policy

TrackYourSats is a Bitcoin portfolio tracker for iPhone. This policy explains what data the app handles, what stays on your device, and the limited information that is sent to third-party services. It is written to be plain and honest — if something is not listed here, the app does not collect it.

1. Your financial data stays with you

Everything you enter — portfolios, transactions, recurring-buy rules, and your settings — is stored locally on your device. If you have iCloud enabled, this data also syncs through your own private iCloud (Apple CloudKit) account so it is available across your devices.

• This data is held in Apple's iCloud infrastructure under your Apple ID.
• The developer has no access to your iCloud data and cannot read it.
• It is never sent to our analytics provider or any other server.
• Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

2. Analytics (Amplitude)

To understand how the app is used and to find and fix bugs, TrackYourSats sends anonymous usage telemetry to Amplitude, a third-party analytics provider.

What is sent

• App events: which screens are viewed, which actions are taken, state changes, and errors that occur.
• Limited event details: a fixed allowlist of non-identifying fields such as the type of action, counts, durations, error codes, error types, and iCloud sync status.
• Standard device information collected by the Amplitude SDK, such as device model, operating-system version, app version, language, and an IP address (used by Amplitude for approximate, country-level location). A device-generated identifier is used to group events from the same device.

What is deliberately NOT sent

• Your name, email, or account credentials.
• Any portfolio, transaction, or balance amounts.
• Internal identifiers such as transaction IDs, portfolio IDs, store IDs, or session/launch IDs — these are stripped before any event leaves the device.
• Any free-text you type into the app (except feedback you explicitly submit, see below).

Amplitude's automatic data capture (sessions, screen views, app lifecycle, and deep links) is turned off. Only the redacted events described above are sent. Amplitude's own handling of this data is governed by Amplitude's Privacy Policy.

3. Feedback you send

If you use the in-app feedback feature to report an issue, the following is sent to us (through Amplitude) so we can read and act on it:

Field	Description
Your message	The free-text feedback you wrote.
App version & build	To know which release you are on.
iOS version	The operating-system version of your device.
Timestamp	When the feedback was submitted.
Diagnostics (optional)	A redacted log of recent app events, sync status, and error codes. It excludes portfolio/transaction/store IDs and any text you typed elsewhere.

Feedback is content you choose to send. Please avoid including sensitive personal information in the message text.

4. Market data requests

To show prices and currency values, the app fetches public market data from:

• Coinbase (api.exchange.coinbase.com) — Bitcoin price and chart data.
• Frankfurter (api.frankfurter.dev) — foreign-exchange rates.

These are read-only requests for public data. No personal information, account data, or portfolio data is included in them. As with any internet request, the receiving service can see your device's IP address.

5. What we do not do

• We do not sell or rent your data.
• We do not use your data for advertising or share it with advertisers.
• We do not require an account, name, or email to use the app.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites.

6. Data retention

Data on your device and in iCloud remains until you delete it or remove the app. Anonymous analytics and feedback held by Amplitude are retained according to our account configuration and Amplitude's retention practices.

7. Children

TrackYourSats is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Your choices & rights

You can delete all your app data at any time by removing it within the app or deleting the app and its iCloud data. Because analytics is anonymous and contains no personal identifiers, we are generally unable to link telemetry back to an individual. If you have sent feedback and want it removed, contact us using the details below.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
